Author, former West teacher’s work comes full circle

Jon Ripslinger’s yearbook photo from when he taught at West in 1973. Ripslinger did not write while he was teaching because he worked part-time jobs outside of West to provide for his six kids. His legacy at West lives on through his daugher and English teacher Jane Kroening.

Red-tailed hawk rescue at West

Jessica Winkler of Wild-Wildlife Rehab of the QC cradles the red-tailed hawk that is about to be transported to Animal Family Care Center. The bird of prey will be evaluated before either being released back into the wild or to the organization RARE (Raptor Advocacy, Rehabilitation, and Education)if further rehabilitation is required.

Update: Animal Family Vet Center checked the red-tailed hawk out and stated that nothing was broken. The raptor was thin and had been eaten up by gnats and will be visiting a raptor center to get healthy before being released into the wild.
