“I’m so excited for the homecoming parade this year,” says Student Senate president and senior Carolyn Wojtkowski. “It’s going to be better than years before, and something nobody will want to miss.”

One new event is having a parade of floats and decorated vehicles on Thursday, Oct. 1. Instead of doing a car rally to the football game like many years before, Senate decided to have a parade leading up to the bonfire where homecoming queen will be announced. “We are hoping by having a parade it will encourage more people to get involved,” Wojtkowski said.

The homecoming game will be Oct. 2 and the dance will be Oct. 3 at the iWireless Center. Here’s a rundown of Homecoming Week events.

Monday, Sept. 28 – Dodgeball

To kick off homecoming week, there will be a dodgeball tournament at 6 p.m in the West gym. To enter you must have a team of 10 with at least two girls. The cost is $5 a participant. The winner of the tournament gets a prize, along with bragging rights. In addition, the first theme for spirit week will be sports fan. Find your favorite jersey and get ready to play some dodgeball.

If you missed the first Lip-sync battle, here’s your chance to get in on all the fun. During second block, a variety of teachers will be lip synching their way through songs in hopes of having the winning team. The cost is $3 a person, but it’s only $2 if the entire class attends. The spirit theme is for the day is superhero.

Following the parade will be the annual bonfire full of cheer and dance performances, the burning of our opponent’s letters, and of course ,the crowning of our 2015-2016 homecoming queen. The spirit theme for Thursday is class colors. Freshman wear green, sophomores wear purple, juniors wear blue, seniors wear pink, and the staff wear black.
