West welcomed some new special education teachers to the staff this year including Jack Van ScYoc. Van ScYoc came to West from Prince of Peace Catholic School in Clinton, IA. This is his second year teaching, and first year as a Special Education teacher. Making the adjustment to a new content area has provided a challenge but also growth for Van ScYoc. He stated, “This is my first time doing special ed, so that’s been kind of challenging, but it’s been really rewarding, too.” He is familiar with the Davenport area, as he attended St. Ambrose University for college. He is feeling welcomed at West and states, “I really like it here. Everyone’s been really nice and helpful.” We are glad to have Mr. Van ScYoc here at West and wish him the best this school year!
