Just a trend?

Do crystals and gems really work?

Just a trend?

The truth is, conversations and beliefs surrounding crystals and the heath, beauty and spiritual benefits they provide, have been around for a long time. In recent years, trends surrounding crystals have occurred more frequently. Many of these trends are about the medical and spiritual benefits of gems. Freshman, Cory Carter believes in the spiritual benefits but not the medical benefits of crystals. “I don’t believe crystals can cure cancer or hepatitis because that’s medical but [crystals] have effects on your mood and help to bring good spiritual energy.” In addition to these benefits some people just have collections of gems because they’re pretty. Senior, Ella Heath is one of these collectors partially because of this reason. “I use crystals every day. They are always with me, on my key chain and in my car. My favorite crystal is flower lace agate because it’s pretty. I also have a lot of amethysts because it’s good luck.” Although some feel strongly about the benefits of using and channeling crystals, some don’t believe crystals work at all. Freshman, William Bruce feels that you receive no real advantage with using crystals. “From personal experience, I’ve tried them and every single time nothing happens. My mom sometimes rubs them on my back and it’s supposed to not be sore but I still feel sore. I think people just care to much about [crystals].” Overall, with the rise in the popularity of crystals and gems in Gen Z, it seems crystals will be going no where soon and in the mere future there may be studies that prove or debunk the benefits of crystals.
