Majority dislikes April Fools Day due to various reasons
No sense of humor

As March comes to an end, April laughters roll in. April first brings overflowing laughter for many to enjoy. However, April Fools is a day the majority continues to dislike even though it’s dedicated to laughter, jokes, pranks, and tricks.

This is due to how over the years people have slowly overlooked this controversial holiday but continues to endure. April Fools Day is the longest non-religious holiday that the majority participates in to this day.

According to Alex Boese, the curator of the museum of hoaxes,” One of the interesting things about the holiday is that you can go right back to the beginning of the earliest records of it, and people always hated it. It’s one of the least-liked holidays there is. There’s a large group of people that just despise it.”

This is partially due to the predictable pranks that occur year after year. The pranks often result in exploitation of personal boundaries and can also be hurtful physically and mentally. Additionally the pranks are very disruptive and unpleasant to the majority of people.Furthermore more pranks and tricks performed on April Fools aren’t amusing due to the lack of involvement.

“No one likes to participate in the pranks because it’s too much of a hassle and half the  time no one realizes it’s even April Fools day. People also take their pranks way out of hand,” senior Sophie Wiklund said.

Another reason many dislike April Fools Day is because it’s not officially a “holiday”. While it does celebrate with many jokes and laughter, it lacks the significance of a traditional meaning. In addition due to the traditional holiday requirements many don’t celebrate it.

According to senior Torrin Heritage, “I don’t think it should be a holiday because no one celebrates it or if they do it’s very minimal, and we still have school so it’s technically not a holiday, so that’s why I don’t pay much attention to it.”

Many people dislike April Fools Day because of the frustrating pranks that appear more annoying than amusing. While some people do enjoy the humor, others view it as an excuse for dishonesty. Ultimately, April Fools Day is a day where everyone has to second guess everything they are told.
