Finding the perfect study place can be imperative to your success as a student. Many people enjoy studying at home or at the library but a select few enjoy choosing different places around the school to study. Whether it’s the band room or your 2nd block, having the right environment plays a big role in choosing the best study place for you. Some enjoy having the peace and quiet of home for studying while some just put headphones in and listen to music. Some may choose a coffee shop while others just don’t find the time to study.
“I like to study at my kitchen table or at my desk in the comfort of my own home. I like listening to lofi music because it is so calm and relaxing. The lofi music helps me concentrate really well while I’m studying. I will sometimes write on one piece of paper while scribbling on another piece of paper because it just helps the stuff pop. I will also reread something multiple times and then I will write it twice,” sophomore Madison Conger said.
For many people studying requires the right moos. While some might listen to music or a podcast others might prefer complete silence. Some people might light a scented candle to set a nice aroma. No matter what it is, having the right environment is one of the most important parts of successful studying.
“I love going to any coffee shop to study. Coffee shops just have such a comforting feeling to wind down and study. I love to put my headphones in and listen to the Emma Chamberlain podcast while studying. That and a nice coffee just make the perfect environment for studying,” senior Addison Sinksen said.
The environment of a coffee shop can be a perfect place to study. A lot of times coffee shops are pretty laid back and comfy environments. The aromas from coffee are also one thing that makes studying at a coffee shop wonderful. These reactions are caused by a reaction called the maillard reaction. This was named after Louis-Camille Maillard who discovered this reaction in 1912. This reaction takes amino acids and reducing sugars then uses these to process together ultimately resulting in a pleasant aroma.
Studying is one of the most important things that you can do for your academic future. But studying can be very difficult if you don’t have the right environment for it. It may take some experimentation but everyone should have a place they are comfortable studying in. So why not find yours?
