Family-friendly Cinco de Mayo festivities

Cinco de Mayo will be celebrated on a Friday this year which means children and families have the opportunity to partake in some fun weekend events. Here are several family-friendly places that will have food and festivities to celebrate the popular Mexican holiday.

 

  1. Ganzo’s

Ganzo’s Mexican Restaurant has two days’ worth of festivities planned. Friday night will consist of several bands performing with dancing and, of course, lots of food. The annual Cinco de Mayo 5k race will begin at 9 a.m., followed by face painting, dancing, a jalapeno eating contest and much more.   1. Rudy’s Tacos

  1. Quad Cities River Bandits Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

The band Los Mocambos is performing the pregame for the River Bandits game against the Lane County Captains at 6:35 p.m..   1. Azteca 1

The Azteca 1 will be hosting a two-day event that will take place indoors and outdoors. There will be a tent and grill outside where shish-kabobs will be sold.
