Steven Daily ‘22 bowls during a meet last season. Daily has lots of bowling experience when it comes to bowling. He began bowling seven years ago in seventh grade, at League at 30 Lanes bowling alley. “Bowling is fun, and you are usually independent, so you have to practice endlessly,” Daily said.

Alyssa Broer ‘22 practices jumps right before she goes on with her team to do their state lyrical dance. In addition to their state competition the dance team danced at halftime for basketball and football games. “One thing I really enjoy about the dance team is our basketball season. It’s always so fun when we are in the hallway practicing before we go out because I get to hang out with my best friends. When performing we are closer to the crowd and it makes dancing for them so much easier,” Broer said.

Talk about a game face. Boys swimmer Nate Hagedorn 23 uses the breaststroke technique during a home swim meet vs. Muscatine. Hagedorn swam multiple races at the swim meet versus Muscatine. I like that [breaststroke] is more challenging than freestyle. It gives me more to do and its a fun stroke,  Hagedorn said.

“It is important to become educated on the game. I played until I was a junior and so I just relied on my smarts and athletic ability. Somebody with more technique and who was more educated on how to hit the ball correctly ended up taking my varsity spot when I was senior,” science teacher and tennis coach Ian McCloud said.  “I don’t ever want to see that happen again, and I know I have gotten a lot better when I know how to play the game correctly, so get educated.”
